Isaiah 9:6 “For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on his shoulders. He will be named: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.”
The whole Bible points to Jesus. From the fall in the garden God said the Son would strike the head of the enemy of our souls all the way to The Revelation of Jesus Christ and every page in between, the Bible is about the person and work of Jesus Christ.
Every year at this time we come to the celebration of the birth of Jesus. Many of our churches will be doing advent devotions, some of us will read a chapter of Luke each day. On this first day of December I want to remind us all that the Old Testament prophets spoke of His birth and that the Holy Spirit points us not to Himself but back to the person, work and teachings of Jesus.
During these next twenty-five days let’s make a commitment to get to know Jesus better. We all know the story of His birth but let’s study it deeply this month. Look at all the characters; from Zechariah to the wise men who came two years later. That’s something to think about isn’t it? The star that directed them was visible for two years, showing the way to the redeemer.
Join me for the next twenty-four days as we take an in depth look at the wonderful story of the birth of our Savior. I pray this time will be a blessing to you and that you have a wonderful Christmas season with family and friends.
