Evening Devotion: Attention

“My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings.” Proverbs 4:20 NKJV

It’s important that we give attention to the Word of God. The very next verse says, “Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart;”

Meditating on the Word of God is a key theme throughout the Old Testament.

I just saw a video announcement from Paul Washer. He is starting season two of his Proverbs study. He is on lesson 71 and he is on Proverbs 4:7. That is giving attention to the Word of God!

Pick a book and go verse by verse. Start with a small book like James, Ephesians, Philippians, or First John. That will help you give attention to the Word of God. The Word of God is what changes and transforms us. If we want to be more and more like Christ, we need to give attention to His Word.

Pick one of the books listed above and study it. You can get a study guide by John MacArthur to help you study.

Joshua 1:8
Proverbs 4:1-5
2 Timothy 3:16-17
