Evening Devotion: Friendship

“Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.”
James 4:4 NKJV

Jesus told His disciples that He no longer called them servants but friends. He also said if you love Me you will obey me.

Again and again Scripture calls us to holiness and remain unspotted from the world. If we are friends with the world we are the enemy of God. If we bend Scripture to make a sinning world comfortable we make ourselves the enemy of God.

Abraham was a friend of God and it was accounted to him as righteousness. Abraham walked in obedience to God, when he messed up, he made things right. Let us walk with God in holiness and forsake the weight and sin that easily entangled us.
