The World is my parish. – John Wesley
John Wesley is the famed preacher from the 1700’s and founder of the Methodist Church. He and his friend, George Whitfield were known for their outdoor preaching because they were not allowed in the established churches. Wesley famously said, the world is my parish, implying he would preach the gospel wherever he was able.
Matthew 28:18-28 NKJV “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.”
This is our commission and with social media and the internet, the world truly is our parish. We have opportunity online and in person to share the message of people’s need for a Savior.
Ask the Holy Spirit to put people in your path today that need to hear the gospel message. Be bold in starting conversation or simply sharing an Instagram post talking about our need for a Savior; that sin separates us from God and that Jesus died and rose again so that we might be free from sin and have right standing with God.
