“You rule the raging of the sea; When its waves rise, You still them.”
Psalm 89:9 NKJV
Psalm 89 is a very encouraging Psalm that has the sovereignty of God woven throughout. God rules the raging seas. The heavens, the earth, and the world in all of its fullness belongs to God.
But for all the hints to God’s sovereignty, two other verses stuck out to me this morning.
Psalm 89:7, 15 NKJV “God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, And to be held in reverence by all those around Him. Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O Lord , in the light of Your countenance.”
The sovereignty of God should cause a reverence in us. It should be the greatest comfort to a Christian to know that our God can can calm both literal seas and the storms of our life. We get to walk in the light of His sovereignty, knowing He is in ultimate control. Rest in God’s sovereignty. Read and meditate on Psalm 89.
