Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored
He has loosed the fateful lightening of His terrible swift sword
His truth is marching on
I have seen him in the watch-fires of a hundred circling camps
They have builded him an altar in the evening dews and damps
I have read his righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps
His day is marching on
Glory, glory, hallelujah
Glory, glory, hallelujah
Glory, glory, hallelujah
His Truth is marching on
I have read a fiery gospel writ in burnish’d rows of steel
As ye deal with my contempters so with you my grace shall deal
Let the hero born of woman, crush the serpent with his heel
Since God is marching on
He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat
He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment-seat
Oh, be swift, my soul to answer him be jubilant, my feet
Our God is marching on
Glory, glory, hallelujah
Glory, glory, hallelujah
Glory, glory, hallelujah
His Truth is marching on
His Truth is marching on
Happy Dependence Day! That’s right, we may have declared our independence from Great Britain, but we are still very much dependent upon God.
Yesterday as I watched the service from Glory of Zion, they sang the chorus of the Battle Hymn of the Republic, and the words exploded in my spirit. This nation was founded to worship God. Secular and even some religious historians may try and change our history, but the truth remains.
Think about the words of this hymn. Think about the Great Commission.
Matthew 28:18-20 TLV “ And Yeshua came up to them and spoke to them, saying, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, immersing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Ruach ha-Kodesh, 20 teaching them to observe all I have commanded you. And remember! I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
America has sent missionaries worldwide, and America itself is a mission field. We were founded in the midst of a great awakening, but our recent history has only known revivals. So, this Independence Day, I pray that we declare our dependence upon God again!
Oh God, send another awakening to this nation. Raise up modern-day Whitfields, Edwards, and Finneys! Bring repentance and revival to your church and a reformation in this nation.
