Jos. 1:7-8 (CJB) “Only be strong and very bold in taking care to follow all the Torah which Moshe my servant ordered you to follow; do not turn from it either to the right or to the left; then you will succeed wherever you go. 8 Yes, keep this book of the Torah on your lips, and meditate on it day and night, so that you will take care to act according to everything written in it. Then your undertakings will prosper, and you will succeed.”

80: PEY: Speech/Freedom
The Hebrew decade of 5780 began September 29, 2019. COVID-19 was first reported in December.
PEY – Pesach – Passover. For the first time in modern history, Passover was held in homes, with families, behind closed doors.
PEY represents speech and freedom, and what happened in the first year of speech and freedom? Governments around the world covered people’s mouths and limited our freedom.
5787
The first day of Rosh Hashanah falls on Shabbat, when we cannot sound the Shofar (ram’s horn), a commandment of this feast.
The 25th remembrance of September 11, 2001 falls on the Eve of Rosh Hashanah.
The sound of the shofar confuses the enemy.
Rabbi Yaakov Ettinger teaches that when Rosh Hashanah falls on Shabbat, it indicates a more tumultuous year ahead:
- 1929 – Wall Street Crash
- 1932 – Hitler became Chancellor of Germany
- 1942 – Holocaust
- 1962 – Cuban Missile Crisis
- 1979 – U.S. Embassy taken by Islamic regime
- 1989 – (Positive) Berlin Wall fell
- 2020 – COVID-19
- 2023 – Hamas October 7th attack against Israel
5780 is a decade of great spiritual warfare. There is always spiritual warfare, but we have entered a time when the enemy is ramping up his attacks.
PEY: 80
Mouth, speech, opening, entrance, border, order, command.

5780/2020 set the tone of the enemy through COVID. He declared an all-out war on Churches by shutting them down, on families by having loved ones die alone in hospitals, and by limiting family gatherings.
5784/2023, the devil, through Hamas, which means violence in Hebrew, carried out the most devastating attack in Israel’s history, and we have seen Jew hatred increase worldwide since that day.
7: ZAYIN: Movement/Weapons
Look at entertainment, the sports world, the insanity of immorality all around us. Are we asleep to the demonic assault that is all around us?
Isa. 5:20 (CJB) “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who change darkness into light
and light into darkness, who change bitter into sweet and sweet into bitter!”
Matt. 6:22-24 (CJB) “22 ‘The eye is the lamp of the body.’ So if you have a ‘good eye’ [that is, if you are generous] your whole body will be full of light; 23 but if you have an ‘evil eye’ [if you are stingy] your whole body will be full of darkness. If, then, the light in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! 24 No one can be slave to two masters; for he will either hate the first and love the second, or scorn the second and be loyal to the first. You can’t be a slave to both God and money.”
The letter ZAYIN is shaped like a sword.
Eph. 6:17-18 (CJB) “And take the helmet of deliverance [Isa.59:17]; along with the sword given by the Spirit, that is, the Word of God; 18 as you pray at all times, with all kinds of prayers and requests, in the Spirit, vigilantly and persistently, for all God’s people.”
Vine’s Expository Dictionary: “The Sword of the Spirit (Rhema) – Reference, not to the whole Bible as such, but to the individual Scriptures which the Spirit brings to mind in times of need. A prerequisite being the regular storing of the mind with Scripture.”
5787: A Time to take up the Sword of the Spirit
5787 is a leap year, which means it contains two months of Adar, and both Cheshvan and Kislev have thirty days this year, making it the longest year possible on the Hebrew calendar. It also begins and ends with Shabbat, so honoring Shabbat is key this year.
In the 90s, certain Christians warned against the dangers of television, movies, occult and New Age practices entering the church, as well as the dangers of innocent games like Pokemon and Dungeons and Dragons. Most Christians said they were crazy; it turns out the dangers were real.
ZAYIN is about movement. We need to move in step with the Word of God, be led by the Spirit of God, and resist the moves of the enemy against us.
