“Be still, and know I am God.”
Psalm 46:11a TLVa
I don’t know about you, but when I go to bed at night, I can never get my mind to stop. Sometimes I’m thinking about a Scripture; sometimes it’s just stuff, other times it’s the weird, deep stuff, like what if there was nothing….. and other times, it’s wondering what if blank would have gone differently.
It’s that last one that really gets us, I think. When you lay in bed, just wondering if things could have been different. It’s times like that when we need to acknowledge the sovereignty of God. Sometimes things don’t go the way we want. Still, at other times, God sees fit to bring something around again at a later time. Either way, right now, you just want to sleep. So what do you do? You cast your cares on the Lord, for He cares for you. Read a few Psalms, pray, and go to sleep. Maybe turn on a sermon or some worship music, and put your focus on something else. God gives His beloved sleep, ask and receive that sleep.
